Cell Phones For Soldiers

Computers West is a sponsor of Cell Phones for Soldiers.  Cell Phones for Soldiers was started by two teenagers, Brittany and Robbie Berquist.  They had seen a news article about a soldier who was overseas and had an enormous telephone bill from calling home.  They figured out a way to help our soldiers overseas by collecting used cell phones, recycling them, and purchasing phone calling cards for our troops.  Each phone provides an hour of talk time for a soldier away from home. In the past three years, Computers West, thanks to our community, has collected over 3700 phones, which means 3700 hours of calling home for our soldiers.  We are hoping to see that number continue to rise with your help.  The phones are broken apart and recycled, so that helps save our landfills, also. Talk to your friends, neighbors, and family, and remind them to save those old phones, and donate them to a wonderful cause.  We can each make a difference. Help these brave young men and women to be a little closer to home.  Our military is always there for us, so let’s make sure that we are there for them. Look for the “Cell Phones for Soldiers” boxes in the Computers West office at Palm Ridge, as well as, PORA, the Library, the Posse, the Fire District Administration Office, Helping Hands, Metal Club, Photography Club, Mens’ Club, Barber Shop & Beauty Shop across from Beardsley, Church on the Green, and the McDonald’s on Grand, Bell & 99th.  Thanks to the above organizations for helping our cause and to all of you who have helped us the past three years.
